FLYING IN THE FACE

People across the country whose homes are threatened by airport expansion joined forces last weekend. Residents of Hasty Lane in Manchester, a row of 200 year-old cottages slated for demolition to make way for a giant cargo shed for nearby Manchester Airport, threw a Tea-party to launch their ‘adopt a resident’ scheme.

They were joined via video link by inhabitants of Sipson, the village threatened with destruction by the building of Heathrow’s third runway.
