AND THEN WE TAKE... BIL’IN

Basem Abu Rahme, a resident of Bil’in village in The West Bank, has become the eighteenth person to be killed by Israeli forces while protesting the construction of Israel’s ‘Apartheid Wall’ (See SchNEWS 544). Abu Rahme was shot in the chest last Friday (17th) with a high-velocity tear gas projectile by soldiers 40 metres away from the demonstration, later dying of his wounds in hospital. The tear gas projectile, designed to be used at long range, was the same as that which critically injured American activist Tristan Anderson last month (See SchNEWS 669).

* Human rights worker, Free Gaza activist and journalist Ewa Jasiewicz, who was in Gaza during the recent military assault, will be in Brighton talking about her experiences and what you can do to help the people of Gaza. 7pm, Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton on April 28 – see www.freegaza.org

Keywords: apartheid wall, basem abu rahme, ewa jasiewicz, idf, israel, palestine, tristan anderson
