SchMOVIES DVD Collection 2006
The pick of the SchMOVIES produced in 2006, covering events across
the UK such as the Smash EDO campaign, protest camps at Titnore
Woods and Shepton Mallet, the Camp For Climate Action, anti-war
demos at Parliament Square in the face of SOPCA laws, community
resistance to the M74 motorway in Glasgow, and more... One theme
that runs through these films is the blatant use of a 'political
police force' to protect corporations and war criminals rather than
uphold the law. But despite this, people are prepared to take direct
action and not let a police state goosestep in. Remember... People
should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be
afraid of their people.

Organised
Sack Parliament Protest - October 9th 2006
The much publiced sack parliament anti-war demo
at the heart of Westminsters exclusion zone gave the
Serious and Organised Crime and Punishment Acr (SOPCA) a thorough
work out for the first time. The plan was to surround Parliament
and prevent MPs, Lords and Civil Servants from continuing business
after their Summer recess. 800 cops had other ideas.

Nasties
During Israels
attacks on Gaza and the Lebanon, Sussex
Action for Peace held its second march on August 19th, protesting
about the Wests lack of response to war crimes in the Middle
East. Before the
march began it soon became apparent that Sussex Police were having
none of it. Apart from the obvious Police overkill and crappy excuses
for changing the route of the march, the number of police FIT teams
that were deployed was way beyond the norm even filming kids
in buggies!

Remember, if you are
filmed by the Police at a demo you have the right to obtain
a copy of the footage they took. A good place to start is www.dataprotection.gov.uk
because if you contact the police station directly they will invariably
fob you off.
EDO
SchNEWSFLASH
The EDO/MBM factory
in Brighton was completely blockaded today (21/9/06) as three activists
locked onto the main gates. This lead EDO to taking the drastic
action of cutting down part of their fence with an angle grinder
to let staff in.

SMASH
EDO TRILOGY 2006
A round up of three actions
on Brighton's very own bomb making factory, EDO/MBM.
AN INSPECTOR CALLS
- March 2006. The Brighton Weapons Inspection team return for a
second attempt to enter the EDO factory on the third anniversary
of the Iraq War. However, security guru Mark Lynch and the cops
have other ideas.
LOCKED ON TARGET
- July 2006. With Israel attacking the Lebanon and Gaza, three activists
lock on to concrete barrels, blocking both gates of the factory.
SHAME - July 2006.
"The Horrors of War" demo planned weeks before the Israel
attacks started is sobering reminder of the aims of the SMASH EDO
campaign. Workers from the factory get a thorough verbal kicking
as they head home from work.

THE
BIG COVER UP
'World Naked Bike
Rides' took place in cities everywhere on June 10th 2006.
The Bike ride is a carnival
on wheels protesting against the perils of car culture and
oil dependency as well as highlighting the right to be naked. This
film covers the World Naked Bike Ride in Brighton, which ran into
problems when Chief Superintendent Jeremy Paine of Sussex Police
deemed it fit to restrict riders from being fully naked, telling
them to cover up their rude bits. The ride went ahead
regardless and SchMOVIES catches up with several riders to see what
they thought up about this great cover up.

OUT
OF HARMS WAY
No Borders action at Harmondsworth
Detention Centre, 8th April 2006.
Following a call out
by the Australian Noborders nearly 300 folk converged on Harmondsworth
and Colnbrook detention centres, near Heathrow to show solidarity
with the detainees held there.
Whilst a large Police
presense kept everyone contained outside, the guards inside forced
the detainees away from the windows so they couldn't see the demo.
Subsequently hunger strikes began in Colnbrook.

SHOT
AWAY
"I
am the only one in this room, professional enough, that I know of,
to handle this Glock 40" - famous last words
This gem has been floating
about the web since it was shot in April 2004. It shows Drug Administration
Agent Lee Paige shooting himself in the foot - literally! During
a weapons demonstration for Florida children, Paige's firearm (a
Glock 40) accidently discharged blowing a hole in his foot - and
it was all caught on camera. As a result Paige is suing the DEA
over leaking the film into the public domain. (See also 'And Finally...'
